Las Cataratas del Iguazú- una de las Nuevas 7 Maravillas de la Naturaleza en el mundo- superaron el millón y medio de turistas en el 2025, y comienzan el nuevo año con reservas para el verano y las mejores expectativas.
Al respecto, Leopoldo Lucas, presidente del Iturem (Argentina) expresó «hacemos un balance positivo del 2025, hemos trabajado muchísimo en la promoción del destino, participamos en 23 ferias y eventos de promoción alrededor del mundo y en Argentina y la región, mirando los mercados estratégicos para nuestro destino. Hemos trabajado mucho en la recepción de prensa, invitados e influencers que nos ayudaron a mostrar las experiencias de nuestro destino a sus seguidores, hicimos mucho trabajo de comunicación, y vemos los resultados».
Y agregó «porque en un momento que no es tan facil para el turismo nacional, nosotros estamos cerrando el año con un número récord de más de 1,5 millones de visitas en las Cataratas del Iguazú es un número importante para el destino. Y pudimos lograr que la mayoría de ese millón y medio de visitas, disfruten de nuestros hoteles sustentables, de nuestra gastronomía, que disfruten de la seguridad de nuestra ciudad, donde pueden salir a caminar de noche o en el horario que quieran y donde además hay 40 atractivos más para visitar».
Un vuelo que une dos Maravillas del Mundo
En diciembre se inauguró la ruta aérea que une a las Cataratas del Iguazú con Lima- Perú, uniendo así a dos Maravillas del Mundo, ya que desde Lima se realizan las excursiones a Machu Picchu- una de las Nuevas 7 Maravillas del Mundo. Y las Cataratas del Iguazú son una de las Nuevas 7 Maravillas de la Naturaleza.
La duración del vuelo ofrecido por la firma Flybondi se estima en 5 horas, y las tarifas ida y vuelta rondan los 400 dólares.
En referencia a este vuelo, el titular del Iturem dijo «tenemos dos frecuencias semanales, los lunes y viernes, el vuelo sale a la madrugada desde Iguazú y regresa desde Perú al mediodía».
Leopoldo Lucas hizo hincapié en que es un vuelo muy beneficioso, que une dos Maravillas del Mundo y los turistas peruanos e internacionales pueden venir en un vuelo directo hasta las Cataratas del Iguazú, y viceversa desde Iguazú a Perú.
Además resaltó «podemos viajar a Perú, y al resto del mundo vía Perú y si uno mira horarios y tarifas es muy beneficioso para todos», tanto para organizar viajes y escapadas, como avi también para otros viajes internacionales via Perú.
Buenas expectativas para 2026
Por otra parte, el presidente del Iturem indicó que «cerramos un 2025 muy bueno, tuvimos muchos eventos en el destino. Y en ese sentido hay que destacar el Centro de Eventos y Convenciones para 9 mil personas que inauguramos este año, eso nos abre otro panorama para el 2026-2027 y los próximos años, presentando al destino con una oferta para grandes eventos. Hoy tenemos toda la oferta hotelera, gastronómica, atractivos, agencias de viajes, y las maravillosas Cataratas del Iguazú, acompañado de un gran Centro de Eventos y Convenciones, que estrenamos este año con un evento para 850 agentes de viajes, algo muy importante para nosotros porque ellos son los organizadores y los que venden los eventos, y participaron viendo cómo funciona todo y se llevaron una experiencia maravillosa».
En cuanto a las expectativas para 2026, sostuvo que «el balance que hacemos del año es muy bueno, asi que ahora vamos a seguir trabajando, estamos motivados para hacerlo».
Además añadió «hay una buena expectativas para este verano, que es temporada alta del turismo nacional, somos un destino que está preparado para el verano, hay un buen nivel de reservas, y sabemos que muchos turistas llegarán con su vehículo propio muy cercana a la fecha realizando sus reservas. Además también vendrán turistas de paso por una o dos noches en el destino y todo eso nos genera muy buenas expectativas».
Y adelantó «para los próximos meses ya estamos enfocados en algunas acciones que las habíamos aplicado en 2025 y las volveremos a replicar en este 2026, para que podamos tener también los meses de marzo, abril, mayo y junio que son un poco mas bajos, movimiento de turistas acá en el destino».
Para finalizar dijo que «del 21 al 25 de enero estaremos participando en Fitur Madrid, en esta feria que es una vidriera importantísima y que abre el calendario de ferias alrededor del mundo. Ya recibimos la invitación del Inprotur, así es que estaremos ahí junto al sector privado y el Ministerio de Turismo de la provincia, mostrando el destino en su plenitud y viendo qué panorama tendremos para el destino internacional en 2026».
Visit7Wonders: The Iguazú Falls close a very positive 2025

A flight that unites two Wonders of the World
In December, the air route that connects the Iguazu Falls with Lima-Peru was inaugurated, thus uniting two Wonders of the World, since from Lima the excursions to Machu Picchu are made – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. And the Iguazú Falls are one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
The flight duration offered by Flybondi is estimated at 5 hours, and round-trip fares are around 400 dollars.

Good expectations for 2026
On the other hand, the president of Iturem indicated that «we closed a very good 2025, we had many events in the destination. As for the expectations for 2026, he said that «every time we close a year we talk about all the work we did, we see the results and we see that we are well, so we are going to continue working, we are motivated to do it, the balance we make of the year is very good.»
He also added «there are good expectations for this summer, which is the high season of national tourism, we are a destination that is prepared for the summer, there is a good level of reservations, and we know that many tourists will arrive with their own vehicle very close to the date making their reservations. In addition, tourists will also come for one or two nights at the destination and all that generates very good expectations.»
And he said «for the next few months we are already focused on some actions that we had applied this year and we will replicate them again next year, so that we can also have the months of March, April, May and June that are a little lower, movement of tourists here in the destination.»
Finally, he said «from January 21 to 25 we will be participating in Fitur Madrid, in this fair that is a very important stained glass window and that opens the calendar of fairs around the world.
